Update on

my book Drowning.  I am publishing it through Kindle publishing.
Once I figure out Kindle Publishing, I will run a promotion on it next weekend. I’m reducing the price so that people can get it and then leave a review. You can preorder it if you want to but the promotion will let you get the book at a reduced price. I’ll let you know the details when I get them sorted out.
I’ll get back in touch.

My Public Blog

I write in a journal every day, sometimes twice. I have one journal that is more of a diary type thing and another one that is private and locked with a password. I keep that one locked because it is the place where I rant about things.  I usually write these when I am experiencing extremes of emotion -- I don't mean crazy type things; I mean if I'm really mad about someone or something. I write in the locked journal because it gives me an opportunity to blow off steam in my writing instead of at the person I might be mad at. It keeps me from shooting my mouth off and hurting someone. It is a way of releasing pressure. This blog more closely resembles my boring journal (sorry about that). Well, I guess you don't have to read it.

I usually follow the same three or four tracks on this blog as I do in my diary journal, so I have variety in what followers I have. Some are writers, some are people of faith, some have a mental illness as I do, and some just like to shoot the breeze (talk about a lot of different things with no actually planned conversation. It's a colloquialism that we use in my part of Missouri.  I'm not sure of its origins).

Usually, I mix them together in my blog posts, but I'm thinking about focusing more on one topic in each blog entry.

So today, I'll just discuss writing. I am so glad that I decided to try my hand at turning a screenplay that has gone nowhere into a novel. I completed about 1,000 words today. I think I have over 20,000 total and I'm only about a third of the way through it. I am also glad that I have begun setting a goal of at least 500 words a day. It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up to over 15,000 words a month. Steady progress. I think that since I have been setting this daily goal, I have gotten below 1,000 words one time, and that was somewhere about 800.

Taking the small steps gets you there.
Amazon author page.

Since this is a blog about writing, I feel that I can add the link to my author's page in here. My blog gets reprinted there, and there are links to order the three books that I have on Amazon.  Take a look if you want to.

Thanks.

Another Day

It rained yesterday. It's gray and cold today, and, guess what, it looks as if it will rain again. It was also in the 30's this morning. We did have a couple really good days, and I desperately needed them. I know the world is full of gray areas, but I don't want all of my days to be gray.

I finished a book yesterday. Stephen King's Dark Stars, No Moon. The title says it all. The collection of four novellas and one short story was very dark, but not completely. I like King's novellas because I believe he gets too wordy in his novels. Now, I recommend the book, but let me warn you, this is even darker than the other stuff he writes. Don't expect any laughs.

The Cardinals won their first game of the year yesterday. Ozuna got three hits and two RBIs. DeJong hit two home runs. Weaver did okay, but a rookie, Jordan Hicks, looked very impressive. I don't think they will be much better than a 500 team this year, but I could be wrong.

Easter services at our church were fantastic yesterday. We have an amazing pastor who always seems to be speaking directly to me, and our music program is great. I am going to try joining the choir, but if I find that I just don't measure up, I will go back to the pews and just enjoy them.

My Kindle Scout program ends today. I checked on it yesterday and discovered that it was on the Hot and Trending list.  That's a good sign, but it is also fairly typical of the way Kindle Scout usually goes. I'll give you the link one last time.
Last day, Drowning, Kindle Scout campaign.

I want to write more consistently in this blog, but frankly, I don't know what to write. I'm not really an expert on anything. I know a little about a lot of things, but not enough about much of anything to write interestingly enough to get hundreds of followers.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.
